This holiday season, join us for the 37th annual Christmas at Canada Place, presented by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority. The event will be held from November 29, 2024, to January 1, 2025.
As part of the event, visitors can walk along the west promenade of Canada Place to enjoy the Woodward’s Windows - a treasured part of Vancouver’s history.
The History of Woodward’s Windows
In Vancouver in the 1960's and 1970's, the holidays included taking a special trip to the Woodward's Department Store on Hastings Street with your loved ones to see the Christmas window displays. These historic displays featured Victorian era holiday scenes with animatronic characters and elaborate decor including Santa's Workshop, The Lamplighter and The Woodward's Bakery.
When Woodward's was closed in 1993, Canada Place Corporation purchased the historic displays, and they have been part of our holiday magic ever since.
